What's up, Vigilantes? During the Liberland Mexico City Representative Office Launch Event, I interviewed Gus Grillasca, an early Bitcoiner, and world-renowned Pepe artist. Let me tell you, it was an enlightening and thought-provoking conversation.
We talked about everything from the drama unfolding around Ordinals, a protocol that allows people to embed files on the blockchain through multi-SIG wallets, to the exciting world of NFTs and their potential to revolutionize the art industry.
As many of you are aware, I believe Bitcoin was designed to be a new internet, a decentralized space where people can exercise their individual sovereignty and economic freedom without being stifled by oppressive governments and financial institutions. The rise of NFTs on the BTC blockchain is a perfect example of this anti-status-quo rebellion.
Gus and I, Bitcoin renegades, believe that no one should tell us how to use the blockchain. If we pay our fee, our transaction should be permitted, and we should be able to create and trade NFTs as we see fit.
Don’t you agree?
Of course, some prominent Bitcoin developers argue that this is dishonest, but Gus and I believe that the Bitcoin network cannot be spammed and that no one should have the authority to define spam. We also discussed how, due to the security and immutability of the BTC blockchain, NFTs on Ordinals have the potential to be even more valuable than NFTs on other platforms.
But the discussion didn't end there. Gus is also a member of the Liberland project, which is actively attempting to disrupt the concept of the nation-state and challenge the notion of who is permitted to create their own country. He believes that artists are the ones who push the boundaries and challenge the mundane concept of government. And, as Pepe the Frog's father, he understands the power of memes and how they can spread quickly and influence people.
Don’t let the whimsical nature of Pepe the Frog fool you, this is truly impactful stuff…

Indeed, it was the blockchain's ability to create tokens associated with a meme that sparked the NFT craze in the first place. The Homer Pepe was the first crypto collectible auctioned live in New York in 2018, and it demonstrated to the world that digital ownership is the world's largest mountain of wealth, and the digital universe will be massive. Digital goods, digital collectibles, and NFTs will alter our perceptions of value and ownership in the digital age.
So, if you want to get into the NFT game, Gus and I have some suggestions for you. Learn about Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, as well as personal and economic liberty.
